For the love of ..pillows! pt.2

Earlier this week, I posted about pillows I found on Etsy that I loved.  Tonight I randomly spotted many more while walking aimlessly with my friend V. Don't you love it when you discover treasures when you weren't even seeking them out in the first place.. I am in pillow heaven!

Yummy colours! Bottom right photo is totally random. Just gotta laugh at yourself sometimes!
Happy Friday all!

Have you lost weight?

Everytime I bump into my friend, R, she will always ask me, "Have you lost weight?"

"No..la! (Excuse my Malaysian heritage) You are always so kind to me."

Time and time again I would assure her that I've not seen that scale tip to the left in the last few months. But I would secretly be happy with an extra spring in my step when I hear this question (don't deny it! you would too if you were me!) At the back of my head, I knew that it wasn't true.

Although, this time I felt a nudging in my spirit that God was trying to point out to me that indeed, I have been lighter. Not in the flesh. But in the spirit. I can confidently say that I live in so much more freedom in Christ than I ever have in my life. I am more confident of who I am in Christ. I am his daughter and He ain't gonna abandon me nor will He turn away when I call out for Him.

Don't get me wrong. I'm far from perfect neither have I "arrived".

Everyday is a chance to walk in the freedom that He purchased for me at such a high cost. By the blood of Jesus, I can live in freedom from sin, sickness and fear forever. I am grateful and this bible verse will I hold dear to remind me everyday..

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."  ~ Galatians 5:1

My smile now is of an unspeakable joy of knowing that I don't have to carry that burden of sin ever again. God takes that weight off me. He can take that weight off you too?

Shed those "weight" and you will definitely feel a difference.. It is going to be the better version of you! :)

Fasting..

My church launched a 21 day fast recently. It is a great time to sharpen your ears and open your hearts to listen out to the voice of God. It's been two weeks now and I must admit that I have had some defining moments in my walk with God. I am refreshed, challenged and humbled at the same time. What a good God we have! I am once again amazed of His love for me. May I never lose that awe of this fact. Ever.

This is the last week of the fast and I've decided to increase my faith level..yes! I am fasting coffee. It is one of my great loves, after God of course. Today is day number 2. I am proud to say that I am still fully functioning even without my daily intake of my favourite drink. I went to work and survived the whole day. Managed to not bite off anyone's head due to drastic mood swings as some studies would say if breaking coffee addictions. I only had one momentary headache, thankfully not a massive migraine as I would fear. Thank you Jesus! These last 2 days, I've prayed for God to help me through this. Some may laugh but this is a huge step of faith for me. It is true..

"It's not by my might, nor by power, but by His Spirit" .. Zechariah 4:6

Trust in Him in your step of faith! God responds to faith.
Can't wait for what  will unfold in the next few days.

In the making: Book Chandelier

Recently, I spotted this cool idea from Pinterest of a book chandelier. It looked absolutely fabulous so I just had to make it myself. I tried my best to replicate it :) Hope you love it, as much as I do.

What you need? Old vintage books [from a flea market]
// Glue Gun [you can score yourself a cheap one from Bunnings]
// Fishing wire // Wax & Seal [optional for extra character]

Rip out the old pages and glue the long ends together//
Glue the fishing wire to the inside of the book bind to
hang the chandelier by tying a ends together//
Layer the paper one on each other to create  volume//
Use your imagination and creativity to replicate the chandelier//
** Just watch out for the hot glue from the gun..
I have red and burnt fingertips to
prove that it does get a lil' hot sometimes.

TA-DA!!! Here is the finished product! Hope you like it!

Happy Weekend All!!

My weekend according to my iPhone!

What a weekend! Today is Tuesday and I am still recovering from all the feasting and the gatherings that filled my weekend that just past. Hope you had a good one! Here 's a few snapshots to summarise my awesome weekend!

What is Chinese New Year without the cookies!
Just a few to decorate my lil' CNY corner at home!

Check out the spread at my friend's P&HW home!
They are always so generous! Love them so!

My polka dot table runner making it's debut
at the CNY party. Love my red and gold tassels too!
Ahh..family!
Aftermath..full and happy!

Had the joy of celebrating my beautiful friend,
Nat Box this weekend! It was her birthday!
She is gorgeous inside and out! Her gentle spirit
for the things of God is so amazing.
Her courage to chase her dreams is so inspiring.
She has such a passion for her writing and
took a step of faith to pursue that desire last year.
What a great woman of God! You too will be
inspired when you follow her work here.

**Cookies and Cream at Berth Docklands
Vanilla ice cream covered in cookies and cream crumble,
served with honeycomb and warm hot chocolate sauce.
How can you say no to that when you've been on
a fast from all things sugar for the past week! Definitely a
treat worth trying! MMMMmmm..

Happy New Year.. the Chinese way!

In a few moments, the clock will strike midnight and so it will begin..the Chinese New Year weekend. Tomorrow is Chinese New Year eve, and it is when families reunite to have their family reunions. It can only mean one thing. "Let the feasting begin!"

Sadly, I will have none of that this Chinese New Year, as I am far away from home. I will miss the invasion of "reds and golds" decorating my hometown. I will miss the many varieties of cookies which makes its special appearance this time of the year. I will miss the home cooked food by grandma. I will miss the red packets filled with cash to "bless" my new year. Most of all I will family.

But, I still have friends in whom I have come to love and call my family here in Melbourne. Oh yes! We will definitely feast! I must admit it will still be a lil' different, quieter and less celebrated over here in Australia. Nonetheless, we will make most of what we have. So, to usher in some festivities and spread some new year cheer, I decided to decorate my home. I am always an enthusiast when it comes to decorating. Will decorate anything and everything!

Decorating with a budget. Total spent: $8! I am good!

Tassles! Tassles! Tassles! There can't be too much red and gold during Chinese New Year!
So, my little "Chinese New Year" corner is complete!
So, Happy Chinese New Year all! I hope you have the best time with family and loved ones during this season. May this year usher in many great things and adventures. I know mine will be a great one, especially when my God promises me that the best is yet to come. Hope you know He speaks that over you too.

xoxo,
SLG

Colours I Love Right Now: White and Brown

I am thankful for ...kraft paper and white ink pens

White flowers. Instant lift to a room, especially when themed with wooden items. Simplicity at it's best!
